on 22 February 2014, we are going to complete our task that need to interview parents and teachers.
We choose Madam Nazaria Ulfa family because she is as a parents and also a teacher in primary school.
These is our question and her answer.
PARENTS
1. How
do you initiate your child to star reading at early age? What are the method?
-I start to initiate m child to
read at the age of 2, by using flash card and soft book. I think child usually
attract of the flash card because of it is colour and design. For the soft
book, it is suitable for under age child because it soft and not dangerous for
my child.
2. How
do you manage your children timetable?
-I am very strict regarding the
children’s timetable whereby I am the one who set it up. This is the timetable
for the weekdays.
6am-wake up.
7am-go to school.
12pm-go to the nanny’s house.
2-5pm-go to the fardhuain’s school.
5pm-play with his friends-usually
futsal.
6.30pm-clean up
-prepare to go to the mosque with
his father.
8.30pm-do homework.
9pm-watching television.
9.30pm-sleep.
3. What
should we do in order to encourage the children to love the school?
-The ways that I do in order to
encourage them loves towards school is by buying something that he loves
(positive reinforcement). I don’t prefer to buy toys, but I replace it with
stationary. Since he 6 years old I didn’t buy toys for him and I throw away all
of his toys. So far, it’s work. Alhamdulillah.
4. As
a parents how do you enhance your child writing skills?
-As we know, usually boys didn’t
love writing. So, I will make sure I sit with him and do the exercise together.
5. Do
you fell your child needs any extra help in school?
-Yes, I think he does need help.
So, I sent him to extra tuition, which is Smart Reader because he’s weakness is
in English.
6. Where
do you feel your child strengths and weakness are in term of academic?
-I found out that Baihaqi strength
when his teacher involve him in a story competition. So, he need to remember
the story. And he just take less than week to memorize the story that contain
about 6-8 pages. Other than that, he also managed to memorize the surah in
Quran. For his weakness, I found out that he doesn’t like to do something that
is complicated and need to think broadly. He likes to do something that simple
and easy for him to do.
7. If
it is normal for the child to show lack of interest in academic? If so, why?
-Yes, it is. Because children have
their own interest skill. So it might be the children interest more on sport,
technique and others. But, as a parents we need to instill their interest in
academic because it is important to their future. And we must find a ‘creative’
way to shine their interest.
8. As
a parents. Do you ask your children about their learning process?
-For me, their education is very
important. So, I will ask about their learning process every day. And I will
check their homework and make sure that it is done.
9. How
do you develop your child skill of listening?
-For the skill of listening, of
course as a parents, to give command we need a clear voice and louder voice.
Other than that, in encourage my children to listen to the recitation of Quran
or Zikir from the radio, tv or ipad.
10. Is
it parents or teacher, who should take part regarding the children learning
process. Why?
-In my opinion, parents play almost
70% first hand experience to children and teacher is only 30%. This is because,
most of the time children have with their parents. Hence, how can a teacher can
give a full percent of attention to about 30 at the same time, right?
TEACHER
1. How
do you handle your passive student?
-For the passive students, I’ll be
more focuses on them but not full attention because I need to control others
students as well. So, in this case, I’ll refer to counselor and try to slow
talk with their parents. Other than that, I’ll do some activity that will
encourage them to speak and join it together.
2. How do you get thru your stress while facing a
slow learner student and what kind of approaches that you use to recover the
weakness?
-Yes, I admit it that when we face
the slow learner student it is very challenging and stress. The approaches that
I use to overcome this kind of student is I will let they do their homework
beside the teacher’s table. Most of this kind of student is very passive and
they don’t want to ask if he didn’t understand about the lesson. So, by putting
them beside teacher’s table, the teacher can know their weakness and can
recover it and give extra attention to them.
3. What
are the method that you use to attract of students attention to learn?
-As a teacher, that dealing with
children we need to be creative to attract their attention. If not they will
not focuses on what you talking or teaching about. So, sometimes I’ll singing
in the class. Sometimes I need to do some joke and must be friendly with the
student. Make sure the environment in the class is fun and comfortable. As a
teacher also we need to be confident and show the charisma. We need to know
everything. So the student will respect us as a teacher.
4. What
are the ways to handle a noisy class?
-Some children were very active and
of course the class will be really noisy. To handle it, we must control
ourselves first. First, give warning to them. I’ll be strict to make the
student listen to me. And so far everything is under control.
5. How
well has, your college or university prepared you for the teaching profession?
-I only study when there’s holiday.
So, for me, what I learned are different with the real world. I learned from
the experience. As I think, theory doesn’t same with practical.
6. What
kind of rules that you have in your classroom?
-Tell the rules in my class is when
I speak, nobody can speak. If they want to ask a question, raise up hand. And
make sure my homework is completely done. I’ll tell my rules in the beginning
of the class of the first year. For the student’s who did not follow my rules
or me, I’ll punish them.
7. How
do you identifying the special need of the student?
-To identifying the special-need
students, firstly I have to know all of them. And I can detect the differences
of the student. Sometimes while they socialize with their friends. Sometimes I
can detect it based on their respond and on how they behave in the class while
learning process in progress.
8. What
technique do you use to keep student actively involve during the lesson?
-To keep my students involve during
the lesson, I warn my students that when I speak, they must keep silent’s. Not
only that, after teach them, I will ask them the questions and if they can’t
answer it, they will be punish. Other than that, I warn my students that what I
say I will only tell them once. No repetition, but it just a treat, it just to
make sure they alert n listen well.
9. As
a teacher, do you have any conversation with the parent of the children
regarding the child learning process?
-Yes I do. Of course. Usually, if
the students have a problem, it same goes to their parents. I mean their
attitude because they learn from environment, right? Whenever I have
parents-teachers conversation regarding the child’s learning progress I use
method call ‘compliment sandwich’ where it begins with positive comment at the
middle of conversation discussed for any concerns and it ends with positive
comment.
10. Do
you do any program or activity that can increase the child learning process?
-For me, after I teach them, I will
repeat again what I teach them before for 3 times. Then, every time I want
teach them a new topic, I will give them break about 3-5 minutes. At the end of
the lesson, recap back what they learn.
